Logic X and Jamstix comparisons... Hummmm...

Logic 10 was released to the masses today, and it has a very similar new feature that Jamstix has had, but not for the Mac side so far... The ability to choose styles, and then choose the drummers... Ralph did you make some sweet deal with Apple on your nifty Jamstix drum ideas? Or did they just copy the sweat off your brow so to speak?

Hi, I am a Jamstix owner since version 2.

I am one of those that upgraded Jamstix 3 when it was released on the promise of a free upgrade to the OSX port when it was completed. I don't have a Windows music computer anymore so I never even downloaded J3.

Jamstix is a great product and I have been using lesser drum methods in the interim.

Fast forward to the present. I am seriously thinking about forking out the $200 to give the "drummer" plugin in Logic X a try to see if gets closer to what I like about Jamstix.

However, if the Jamstix OSX beta is around the corner, I'd rather save the $200 and work in the likely better product.

I've read all the updates on the OSX port in the various threads. The last clear status update that I can see was a mention that a new graphic interface system was needed.

Given the release of this seemingly worthy OSX competitor*, I would appreciate if Ralph could give a new estimate at this time. Even something basic like "won't be ready for Beta until a least X" would help me make a decision.

I agree with URock, an update on Jamstix OSX would be most welcomed especially as an alternative solution has now arrived on the scene.

I have to say that it doesn't look like a 1 for 1 replacement, but it does look pretty good....

Guys, I hope to give you a better ETA on the OSX Beta in early August. I can't tell you not to shell out $200 for the Logic drummers in X but I can tell you that this Logic feature does not have the range and depth of the Jamstix AI.

I bought Logic X last night. I didn't buy it for "drummer" but all the other great stuff they did to improve the product. I have yet to try it as it is a substantial download with all the content but I do hope to have some time on the weekend.

By the way I agree on mdrummer. I gave it a valiant try and I just couldnt get it to do what I wanted to do with it.

I've watched quite a few videos showing drummer in Logic X, and while it looks interesting, I don't see it coming anywhere close to what Jamstix can do. My guess would be that Mac users are excited because this is probably the first thing like this to hit the Mac. Since Jamstix has been Windows only for so long it may not be on the radar for Mac users. Those of us who started on Windows and then moved to the Mac DEFINITELY know what we are missing.

The slider concept for variations in drummer is kind of neat, but I don't see how you are going to get many variations out of it- certainly not anywhere close to what you can get from Jamstix.

That said- I would be more that willing to help Alpha/Beta test the Mac version of Jamstix. Once I know that it is available for me to download in any form to run im my DAW I'll be making a beeline for the link.

Yes Ralph it is. But I can tell you that when the day comes that we can use Jamstix inside of Logic X, that will be sweeter than sweet!

VST initially, then also AU.

32-bit initially and then we'll move on to 64-bit.
