Sample Jamstix Projects?

Post by vaudeville_ventriloquists »

I'd be interested in seeing other people's projects and Jamstix tunes - particularly in Reaper - since I tend to learn best from example. Like, how much do people tend to hand tweak JS compositions versus leave the jams/improvisation alone?

Is there a repository of Reaper Jamstix projects around that anyone has shared as a sort of opensource, "see the code behind my Jamstix arrangement", set of examples?

+1 on this. What would REALLY be nice is if someone had "versions" of a project where what first is shown is the "stock" JS setup. Then a few different versions so we could get a sense of the workflow and process...

+1 to "versions" - it would be great to see the workflow. Fantastic suggestion!

Speaking as a Reaper user this would be a little hard as everyone has their own favourite VST effects, some paid for,and may would not share.Same with some FX chains. Also everyone's idea of an arrangement is different.

The best advice I can give is to make and save some songs in JS in Reaper as stock formats e.g 4or8 bar intro then V/C/V/C/Middle/VC repeat C to end. It's always best to start with the basics of writing a pop song IMHO and then go from there.
I like to complete a song as above with variants and then change and edit the drums once I have a competed song block rather than get bogged down whilst actually getting to the end of the song.
Once you get into JS it's so fast to change and try things it's just great fun.Gone are the days of endless midi programming.Ralph has made the best Drum program bar none IMHO especially as you can use other drum programs/sounds within it should the need arise.
