I'm trying to get the sound of a guy playing on just a snare drum with brushes. So, I started with the brush kit, stripped it down to just the snare and configured the Brush Swing style and the Brush Player. Jamstix was inserting accents using sticks, which sounded a bit odd, so I muted them.
This is almost what I want, except that Jamstix is mostly sweeping the brushes across the snare instead of hitting them (sorry, I don't know the technical terms). I've experimented with different styles, drummers and brain settings but there doesn't seem to be any way of forcing Jamstix to favor hitting the snare drum instead of sweeping around it...?

Brush kit, brush swing and brush player should not yield any stick snare sounds. The accents will give you the brush hits. Please repeat and, if you still get stick sounds, send me the song file.

It could possibly be a case of the brushes hitting the snare hard, plus the way I've EQ'ed it, that's making it sound a bit stick-ishRalph [RZ] wrote:Brush kit, brush swing and brush player should not yield any stick snare sounds. To be honest, I'm not too worried about this - I can mute out the accents and that's OK. But the original question still stands - is there any way to tell Jamstix to prefer hitting the snare with the brushes rather than sweeping across it?

You can just do "Save Song' in JS and send me that file. Sweeps can be controlled with the brain setting "Brushing". Brush hits for that style are generated by the 'Snare' setting and accents.
