JS4 from JS3

Post by chill_human »

All,

My JamStix 3 is a special build from Ralph that took a long time for me to get running correctly on my DAW. If I test out version 4 and it doesn't work as well as version 3, am I able to go back to version 3? I really really really don't want to go through the same 4 months of frustration I had with 3 trying to get it to work with my setup.....

Also, the way I play is jumping to loops on the 1, and recomposing on the 2 of the first measure to keep the beats interesting. I typically have a 1-4 bar midi loop that I import, and then play in JS as a loop. Anyone have any experience with something similar or do this themselves?

Thanks!
Jesse

Hi Jesse,
No experience regarding the way you are working with midi but in Jamstix 4 you can now drag and drop midi clips directly onto the Groove window which works really well.
You can install JS4 alongside JS3 with no issues. So you shouldn't have any problem checking out JS4 and jumping right back into JS3 if needed.
My opinion (even though you didn't ask for it) is once you get familiar with JS4 there will be no turning back. I really hope it works as well for you as it has for me.

You should be able to download the free version 4 and make sure all is working. That's what I just did. The free version is a bit stripped down but I did get it running in reaper with about two clicks. The GUI is bigger and better and I actually enjoyed the 3D kits.

When you purchase it is pretty explicit that there is no money back.

Hope that helps a bit.

You and me both coming in at the very last day of the sale. :D
