Bar offset in DAW

Hi, very newbie here and I suspect the answer to my question will be very simple, but I haven't seen it in the manual.

My song does not begin on bar 1 in the DAW ( Cubase 8, ) it begins on bar 9. How do I manage this offset?

You can create an intro with 8 bars.

Create an 8 bar part (use any combination of length and repeats that makes sense to you. I use length=1,repeats=8 but thats just me) with the drummer and style set to "silent". Make sure Tf and Rf are unchecked for the silent section.

I've got my head around this better now. It's best to insert a part of the required length using "Q" in the wizard.

Please excuse the late revival but I think it's relevant to point out that this remedy is also necessary if you have a bar offset defined in your Cubase project setup.
