Clicking on JS3.6 GUI makes all GUIs disappear ...

Post by alexis »

Hi - Started yesterday, never seen it before:

I open up the VST instruments panel in Cubase 7.5.40 (i5 16 GB), click on the Jamstix Edit button (the "e" for those who know Cubase), and the Jamstix GUI opens as expected.

However, as soon as I click [u:76723a8a21]within[/u:76723a8a21] the GUI, the JS GUI disappears, *as does every other VST GUI* ... and also all insert or send GUIs that I have open in Cubase! ... the only thing that stays visible is the program program itself.

If I then click again without moving the mouse, all the GUIs, Jamstix included, open up as previously. But again when I try to click in Jamstix, everything disappears again.

This doesn't happen when I click in any other GUI, even if the Jamstix GUI is open.

Help! Do I need to uninstall/reinstall JS? If so ... I'd be grateful if someone could give me a step-by-step, or point me to where it is written on the Rayzoon site. I hope I don't have to do that though ...

Thanks!

[EDIT] I should add ... I did an uninstall, and then reinstalled --- same results, every time I click on the JS GUI, it disappears. I should say that not all files were uninstalled, one I couldn't delete because it said it was in use somewhere (though everything was closed).

Ralph - you sometimes ask for a certain file to be sent to you ... if that is what you would like this time, please remind me of the path to that file and its name - thanks!

Just as mysteriously as it happened it stopped ... now I can click on the GUI and it won't disappear. It didn't happen immediately after I reinstalled. As a matter of fact, it started working normally *immediately* after I closed another VSTi.

Couldn't reproduce it by retracing my steps though.

It's working now, so I'm happy. But still, I'm wondering WFT! Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

This is now happening to me.

JS 3.6 worked fine under Cubase 6.5.5, but after upgrading to 8.0.22 last week the GUI disappears when I click on it. If I click again, even if I don't move the mouse, the GUI comes back. But the moment I try to interact with it, it disappears again.

This is incredibly frustrating because this is a finished song with the parts generated that I want to make minor tweaks to. I can't do it, and I don't want to uninstall and lose my song definition with all of the brain tweaks that I made to get this groove in the first place.

How should I proceed?

Foolomon, please open Documents\Jamstix3\jamstix3.ini in NOTEPAD and add this line underneath [GENERAL]:

PopupMode=1

Save, open Cubase and try JS again. If it still does not work, please uncheck 'Always On Top' in Cubase for the JS window to fix it.

Thanks for that, Ralph, I'll keep it in mind if it happens again!

Interestingly, it did happen a second time on my system, but resolved on without any specific intervention. Ghost in the Machine!

I downloaded the demo and am having this problem on Cubase 5. I tried the steps you mentioned on here, but it still disappears.

I've never tried that hack that Ralph mentioned, but this has worked for me: Shut down JS, go to task manager. Scroll through all the running programs, *including in the background*. Shut down any JS that appears there. Then reopen and play.

I used to have to restart my computer to fix it, but this has taken care of it for me the lady two times.

Cool - thanks! I'll try that tonight :)

I stumbled upon Jamstix while looking up virtual drummers. I don't have anyone to jam with or anything, so I've had horrible writer's block for the past few years. I hear this program can really help with that :)

Nice! It worked! One thing I noticed is that it tends to only open the Jamstix plug-in window when you do it through the VST Instruments window, which is fine by me. Now to play with it before I buy :)
