Holiday sale - upgrades

Do upgrade purchases (Jamstix 2 to 3) qualify for the free Jamstix 4 upgrade? The language on the sale page is a little ambiguous.

Sorry about that! Only new, full purchases of Jamstix 3 qualify for the free upgrade to Jamstix 4.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I'll be waiting until next year, then!

Holiday sale - upgrades

Post by non_drummer (Archive) »

This thread is almost a year old, but I figured I'd reply here instead of starting a new one about the same topic.

I don't own Jamstix yet. My original plan was to wait until version 4 came out before I bought it, but I see that I get a free upgrade to v4 if I buy v3 now.

My question is about the upgrade to v4. Maybe I'm irrational or overly conservative in my thinking, but I don't like "upgrading" software. I never let my browser automatically "update" itself. When a new version comes out I download the full installation .exe and do an install over the previous version.

Ralph, I guess what I'd like to know is if "upgrading" to v4 will be any different than if I wait until v4 comes out before buying it? Or by "free upgrade," do you mean that new purchasers of v3 will be given access to the same download link for v4 as people who wait until it comes out before purchasing it? Thanks.

There will be no difference in installing between a full version JS4 or the upgrade to JS4. When we increment to a new major version, the installer will not touch an existing previous version so that you also have the ability run both in parallel.
