Only 10 more days in this month. Can't wait :)

Quick & dirty screenshot of Jamstix 4. The kit is fully 3D and can be panned, zoomed and turned. Shell color can also be changed. I know that's not a critical function but it's fun. I'll repost the shot plus more detail info in a separate thread later tonight.

That 3d view has me worried as my machine uses a workstation gfx card that has limited 3d capabilities in hardware, offloading most of the work onto the main processor. I hope that there will be the ability to switch to a 2d view.

The reason why I chose that card I'm using is the speed and stability of its drivers and that it is fanless (important for audio recording).

The 3d look fun, but it isn't worth spending extra cpu cycles on, especially if it takes away performance from other cpu intensive plugins to process or create music.

We have a mechanism where you can rotate the 3D view as needed and then lock it at which point the 3D kit is replaced with bitmaps (looks identical) and then operates with hit flashes just like Jamstix 3.

Aside from that, we've optimized the polygon count so that a fully animated 3D kit (cymbals moving, pedals moving etc.) costs only about 3% CPU on a system with an old i7-920 and an even older GTX 260 (circa 2008).

Locking it as a bitmap is perfect. :)

Thank you Ralph!
