MIDI Mapping doesn\'t work
Hi.
I recently installed Jamstix 4 and the MIDI Mapping doesn't work.
I can only hear the sounds when I click on them with my mouse in the app, but despite the plugin telling me Kick is C3, when I press C3 nothing happens.
My DAW is Cakewalk by Bandlab

Do you see this Yellow icon illuminate when you play your keyboard?
If not, your midi is not even getting to Jamstix.

I have had to sometimes map where the MIDI notes are off by 1 octave. IOW, if a device is mapped to C3, a C2 (or C4) will trigger it. It is like the mapping is off by 1 octave.

Try adding a free MIDI Monitor VST before Jamstix and verify that the keyboard or whatever device sending C3 is indeed sending C3.Ignacio_S wrote:Azimuth wrote:Do you see this Yellow icon illuminate when you play your keyboard?

MIDI Mapping doesn\'t work
In this image I am using JS to play samples in SSD. I sandwiched MIDIMonitor 1.3 in between. In the image you will see what JS sent when I hit the Snare Center and what MIDIMonitor shows.
JS is mapped to D2 but sends D1. I think you are doing something else but this illustrates what I was trying to explain in my last post. You might be seeing something like this but in the other direction.

PS. I suspect there is a setting in JS that I have set incorrectly but never looked for it

"I think you can't install MIDIMonitor in Windows"
I am running Win10.
I have the DLL if you want to PM me with your address. It is old but works for me.
There are probably better free options out there though.

MIDI Mapping doesn\'t work
FYI It has been a long time since I did mapping BUT that MIDI Monitor VST I used in that example is not the one I usually use.
I just realized this and used the one I used to use and it does show JS sending the configured MIDI Note BUT in SSD, the snare is mapped to D1 and not D2 even though when JS sends D2, SSD plays the snare.
Sorry about that. Anyway I would still suggest getting a MIDI Montoring VST.
And before that, try C2, C4 from the controller and check if u hear the sample.
Have you done that?

Also, try toggling the option "Use Yamaha pitch convention for note values" under Options>User Interface & 3d Kit and see if that corrects the problem.

I've tried every octave. I'll anyway look for a midi monitoring VST and see if that helps, thanksTheSystem wrote:FYI It has been a long time since I did mapping BUT that MIDI Monitor VST I used in that example is not the one I usually use.
