Hi, I struggle with this mapping thing, I always end up with the hi hat being a tom or a tom being a snare..
on the kit page the select midi input mapping on the top right..do I select input as Addictive drums or JS?..same on the select midi output mapping, whichever one I've tried does not play nice with any kits...finding it a bit confusing..any help would get me out of this fog I'm in due my own stupidity..

thank you,
Kevin.

Hi Kevin,

In the Kit window, the left drop down (Input mapping) is when you want to translate midi from a 3rd party Drum instrument to drive Jamstix. The right drop down (Output mapping) is to translate Jamstix midi output to drive a 3rd party Drum instrument.

Thank you for your answer, so if I want JS to drive Addictive drums I put Addictive drums in the right drop down menu and presumably leave JS in the left drop down menu?
when I do this a window appears and I must select basic tom or black velvet tom etc, when I do this either a floor tom ends up as a snare or the hi hat is a tom or something similar..

sorry I'm so daft!

Yes you want to put AD in the right drop down. Then choose a kit layout in the window that appears that matches the AD2 kit you are driving. Check the "Add Missing Pieces", "Remove Unmapped Pieces" & "Force MIDI Output Only" boxes. If it is still triggering an incorrect sound, you are going to have to manually edit the .mdmap file to make things match up.
