Hi folks, hope everyone had a good Xmas-time !
Enjoying some holiday time with Jamstix, and trying to capture a really soft, jazzier-but-not-jazz light feel.
To that end, I wondered if there was a way to re-direct the snare on the softer lo-power sections to a tambourine hit.
And also does anyone have any tips for making fills that are super-light and kind of lazy, jazzy-ish ?

For the Tambourine question the quick and dirty way to do it would be to have Auto Snare active in the Groove window and in the Kit window change the Snare side stick sound to Tambourine. Then adjust the Auto Snare slider as needed.
As to the fills that is likely going to be a matter of just choosing the right style and player, tweaking the Fill brain settings and recomposing again and again until you get something you like. Then lock that fill bar and move on to the next one needing attention. Fills are in a lot of ways a matter of luck or hand editing when trying to get something very specific. The Fill Brain controls are by far the most unpredictable of all in Jamstix.

I forgot to mention to check out what is included in the C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data\fills folder also. You may find something you like there.

Couple more tips for simpler fills:
1) Try 'Groove' in the 'Character'panel of the fill generator for both fill types to get simple, groove-based fills.
2) If using 'Free Form' for fill type, try increasing the 'Simple' knob under 'Length'
Also, fills can differ dramatically between drummer models.

In the Fill window, in the Bar drop down menu below the Song Sheet choose "Load Fill". This will open a new window where you can load a fill into the bar. Make sure the folder I indicated is listed and if not add it. Also use the Preview checkbox to help selecting one.
