Question about mapping for Superior Drummer 2

I'm working towards standardizing/rationalizing drum note maps across Jamstix, Superior 2, DrumMicA, SMDrums etc.
I worked with a drummer to get my MegaDrum dialed in with Superior Drummer 2 (hi-hat, 3 zone ride and bunch of other mic/mixer settings. (He's used to playing with SD2). All the triggers in the MegaDrum are mapped to the note defaults for SD2
I figured maybe I could stay on that config, switch my host to Jamstix, choose Superior 3 for input and output and it would work but it isn't. I'm using the Charlie Kit and my 10 inch tom trigger is triggering a snare sound. The ride is triggering a crash and the 16 floor tom is triggering the 10 inch tom sound.
I then figured I would edit the midi key and choose what I know is the correct note number but it doesn't change the sound when I hit that trigger.
On the MegaDrum I can quickly and easily change the trigger notes for Jamstix and save it to a config called Jamstix which is what I have been doing so far. I just want to learn how I would change the note maps on the Jamstix side.
I've been looking at mdmaps - What I read in the Superior 3 one looks right - are mdmaps only for output? Can I edit a text file for incoming trigger notes?
Thanks
