Feature Request: Ready-to-Rock Kits

Along the lines of posts like [url=http://rayzoon2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6129]Phil Collins' Drum Kit c.1980[/url], something I’d love to see added to Jamstix is a selection of drum kits that would be recognizable to those of us who aren’t drum geeks (e.g., I have no idea what “Mapex” or “Slingerland” are) and are all set up (including effects—especially the compression, which seems to be a whole art in itself when it comes to drums) to use as a ready-to-go submix in a project.

I don’t know if I’m representative of your target market or not: I’m someone experimenting with songwriting, trying to produce mixes that get across the ideas I hear in my mind... “song demos,” were I yet on the professional scale at all. I don’t expect to replace “real” musicians, but I want my recordings to be as [i:7cc5900b10]transparent[/i:7cc5900b10] as possible, in the sense that they provide a window through which to hear the songs. I know little about drums, except that some of my songs really need them; Jamstix is almost always going to invent a better drum part than I can write.

I want Jamstix (Studio) to be my only drum VST: simpler is better when dealing with what one doesn’t understand at a deep level. There’s a lot of help (and a lot to learn) in Jamstix for setting up rhythmic patterns and performance styles, but I still feel rather adrift in getting the “sound” of drums submixed and ready to add to a project.

(My guess is that Jamstix already has enough drum samples to do this well, but that the current effects aren’t up to the task... making this not a small request. I also realize that it’s possible that what I’m suggesting doesn’t actually make sense to someone who understands drums and mixing enough to know what it would entail.)

I would also be very interested in some "production ready" kits. I love the way Jamstix writes drum parts, I just wish I knew how to make the drums sound like a professional mixing engineer did it.

Granted, he's focusing primarily on the vocals for the application of reverb but you get the idea.
