VST3 support? (or suggestions for a VST2 -> VST3 wrapper

Wondering whether there is any support on the horizon for VST3 format, as there are increasingly more open source audio programs that only support VST3 as VST2 was deprecated in the Steinberg SDK.

Failing that, I know there are wrappers out there that can do this. The DDMF Metaplugin is one of them. Any others? Any that are free or inexpensive? Failing that, what is the best/most stable one?

I didn’t notice Jamstix was VST2, or at least I have installed it so long time ago that I forgot. I have always put attention in installing the 64 bit version for Cubase. And yes, it is announced that with Cubase 12 in 2022 VST2 will not run anymore.

Edit: after looking in my system I can see that my Addictive Drums is a VST 2, too.

To be clear, there is indeed at least one solution out there (DDMF Metaplugin is a bridge that allows this, and there are others I've heard mentioned.) Steinberg makes it very difficult for those that don't already have an SDK license from before their final transition to supporting VST3 only, to compile code for VST2 plugins.

Just wondering whether there was yet an officially recommended bridge program to use for this, or one that other people have tried successfully. If not, I'm going to be trying shortly to get this running with Giada in both a Windows and Linux environment, and Giada only supports VST3.

(I know Linux is not a supported enviornment, thus I'm going to try both. I see someone posted recently about trying in Linux and getting it mostly working.)

Working on a live looping rig for my electric cello and me. (plus some guitar)

Hi,
I remember back during the Jamstix4 private beta (I believe) that work was started on a VST3 version of JS4 but there were parameter automation issues that caused it to be sidelined. I do not know where that stands today however.

There are some recent platform changes that (hopefully) will resolve the issues with our VST3 version. We should have more info on this in FEB-2022.

I've just joined the forum, but I've noticed that alot of my vst2 run better than the vst3 version of the same plugs - even from major manufacturers. I've found if there's an issue with the vst3, often using the vst2 (both 64 bit of course) reduced the error.

In my case I've found the exact opposite to be the case and I'm looking forward to the VST3 version of Jamstix.

I use Cubase, and Steinberg has said they will drop VST 2 support over the next two years. Cubase 12 should be coming out soon and I hope they don't drop it in that version. That would give Cubase users at least another year hopefully. Of course, I know there are "converters" or "bridges" available. I think Blue Cat makes a bridge that I have heard works nicely. My main instruments are Jamstix and Kontakt so I am interested in how their VST3 development is coming along.
