I was wondering what became of Jambassist/Jambace? I was looking forward to this when first heard of it, but now the Jambassist forums don't appear to exist...

It's unfortunately on the back burner since we have to focus fully on OSX and 64-bit. It's not forgotten, though!

Ralph excuse me but I'm on my 4th beer in preparation for tonight's festivities, but have you ever considered putting out just an AI module to drive the other bass vstis such as Trilian or the Scarbee samples? I realize that you're focusing on OSX and 64 bit and I am just throwing this brainstorm out there. I would think it would save a considerable amount of work not having to deal with sampling the basses yourself. I'm just putting my .02 in here.

although I think that's the best route, I wonder about the complexity of THOSE mappings vs. jamstix...

although I would love to have this!

Ralph... have you seen Broomstick Bass? The thing is, it already has samples and articulations and a style-and-pattern-based playing mode — it’s certainly usable, at least on Windows XP — but it hasn’t been updated since 2006.

I wonder if the owner would consider selling it to someone who could bring it up to date, and if it would be a big head start on a JamBass module? In a 2008 KVR post, Sven Bornemark wrote, “It's been extremely hard for me to make my programmers accept the task of updating BB to become IntelMac and Vista compatible. I have asked and asked... And I'm still asking.” I think that’s the last he’s said about it.

The sounds are not the core issue. The heart of JB is the A.I., which is melody-based and thus quite different from the drum logic. However, once we get back to it, we may opt for an initial release or beta release w/ sounds to get it out faster.

Ralph is the plan for Jambassist to be style/player model similar to Jamstix? If so, who are some of the players you would like to see modeled? I'd vote for Jeff Berlin, Tony Levin, Jaco, Stu Hamm & Geddy Lee. Just curious who you would like to see.
