Kit Screen is Red

Jamstix 4 quit working on me on my main Music PC. I had got with Ralph about a month ago but haven't followed up due to holidays.

Anyway, the kit on the Kit Screen is red and no sounds play, but the sticks move. No matter what kit I load.

This happens in Cakewalk by Bandlab, Reaper, and Studio One 3.

I just don't know enough about this program to realize what went wrong. I am thinking something happened to the samples. But I don't know what.

I tried a repair all but got this error:

[i:fe8675d4ae]The Following Errors were encountered during the installation:[/i:fe8675d4ae]

[JS4_PWV6.rxp4 C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\bin\js4sl64.rtxc

Not sure whats going on. Am trying to use JS4 Manager to re-install everything and see if that helps.

The re-install did not work. Same thing. Kits are still red and no sound is played.

I have several pics in my google drive to show what I am talking about. In the pic of the Kit Screen, look at the bottom left of the Jamstix4 window, that's what shows when I hover my mouse over the kit piece.

Hi,
I had something similar occur back during the beta testing where the Windows 49.7 day timer wrapped while I was using it in Reaper. Ralph said he was going to do something to prevent it from happening again and it hasn't since. But that looks exactly like JS4 did when that happened to me. Hopefully Ralph will chime in soon.

Thanks for the response AZ. I can't figure it out. When I Ralph a email back in December he replied back asking me what was the message saying in the left bottom. That's why I got a shot of it and posted on google drive.

Hopefully he can figure it out.

Please use the manager's 'Email Tech Support' to send me the logs so I can look into that.

I just found an email from you with a log and it shows no sound files found. Please open the 'Options' in the manager tool and un-check the 'Use JS3 Sounds' box and let it install the sounds. Let me know if that does not fix it.

Ah ha - I saw something like this too. :)

I was loading a "legacy" kit, from the Brush_Pak expansion. The sounds loaded (from my JS3 data folder) and could be played but the kit was tinted red. I resolved it by selecting the kit Appearance and saving the modified kit.

The BonzoPak kits load fine here.

Darkstar, I think your red kits happen only with pre-JS4 kits, correct?

Grem_songs log showed no sounds found at all, which is why I think un- checking JS3 sounds will fix it.

Yes, you're right. Sorry for the diversion. :)

On closer inspection of the screenshot, the info message in the lower left corner shows "[]" which I presume means that the sound was not found and therefore uses no memory storage. It says "[3.8MB]" here.

Thanks for the reply Ralph. I have unchecked the 'Use Jamstix3 Sound' and am in the process of re-installing everything. Will get back to you later when it completes.

And Darkstar you are correct about the [] brackets showing nothing. That was one of the first things Ralph asked me about when I first reported it.

I assumed it wasn't loading the samples, I just didn't know why. Still not sure. Hell I may have moved /removed Jamstix3 folder somewhere that I just didn't realize I did it. Just really not sure.

But Jamstix4 was still working on my Surface Pro, so I am able to still get work done.
