Great to hear!!! This will solve a LOT of problems for me, since I can't get Wine to work on my system well.

About 5 (five) years waiting, and still not even in beta for OSX….
I forgot all I knew about making Jamstix work since I didn't touch a Windows machine (and don't start me about the workarounds, this is by no means a way to have a decent workflow…)
When I bought the Windows license, the Mac version was announced for 1st quarter 2010, we're a long way past this and I'm still checking from time to time but no interesting news comes along besides the sempiternal Windows sub-versions and releases.
The time span is so large that OSX had 3 different versions since the promised Mac release and I'm sure every one of them could have broken something video or audio-related.
I would really love to be proved wrong but I don't see a working version of Jamstix on the mac coming anytime soon

I can help you. Did you try JamstixWine, its all self contained.lion_tone wrote:Great to hear!!! This will solve a LOT of problems for me, since I can't get Wine to work on my system well.

I tried Jamstixwine, it looks somewhat promising. I'm not a software expert so I have no idea how to register, or update Jamstix within JamstixWine. It all seems very fiddly at the moment. It is saying install registration code to drive C. I have no idea how to find drive C within jamstixwine.Dewdman42 wrote:I can help you. Just installed it and went through the configurations. Things seem good until I try to install the 3.5 update. Once I do that Reaper crashes every time I add the Jamstix plugin. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice and even made sure that I only installed the 32bit version of the 3.5 update. No go.

Yea 3.5 doesn't work, don't bother. Jamstix 3.5 introduced so something that is not compatible with wine in some way. I had it working at one point without crashing at least, but the GUI was still not updating right and it was doing bizarre things. It might be solvable with a lot of effort but its not worth it since a real OSX version is nearing completion. So we will have to live with 3.3 beta on JamstixWine until then.
But if you are able to solve it and get 3.5 working with wine, please let me know how and I'll update JamstixWine. However I suspect it will be quite difficult and maybe not possible.

The problem with innovative products (such as Jamstix) is that eventually someone catches on and builds a product that will compete with it head on.
Apple Logic Pro X has just been announced and one of the new features is a plug-in called "Drummer" which on paper sounds a lot like Jamstix. It's hard to say at this point whether or not, or to what extent, Drummer will compete with Jamstix but it feels like the window of opportunity for Jamstix is quickly starting to close for Logic users.
Any more definitive time frames for the OSX port?

I really seriously doubt it will be anything like Jamstix. But let's see. Anyway I have no plans to use Logic as my DAW ever, so it wouldn't help me anyway.

Hi Ralph
a few weeks ago, whilst discussing Logic X's Drummer feature you said -
[b:175ad37a1b][i:175ad37a1b]"Guys, I hope to give you a better ETA on the OSX Beta in early August."[/i:175ad37a1b][/b:175ad37a1b]
I'm sure that many of us are looking forward to that update, and the first half of August is nearly gone!
Thanks Ralph!
