Jamstix 3.5 RC1 (VST/32, VST/64, RTAS/32) Available
I've been trying out JS 3.5 Beta 4 in Cubase 6.5.1 to play around with and have had a couple of issues. I have just installed Beta 6 to see if these issues have been resolved in the updated Beta, but have still had the same issues.
I have found that if I load Jamstix 3.5 into the VST Rack in a project that has an instance of BFD2 (not subhosted) in it already then the JS GUI doesn't load correctly and shows an error message of "2170582576" is not a valid integer value. When the GUI does load properly, I am still getting this error (but with a different numerical range) when trying to select any of the tabs or buttons within Jamstix (eg. wizard button, kit tab, etc) and Cubase will eventually lock up and come up with 20+ Runtime error 231 at 000000006BC4D682 messages that cascade down the screen. When loading JS 3.5 into an unpopulated VST Rack in a new project or a project without BFD2 in it, JS seems to respond correctly without issues
I have also noticed a lot of distortion/ crackles/ pops in the playback of JS 3.5 in fuller projects (with Midi and audio data). I have adjusted buffer settings with no result, but if I solo the JS 3.5 output channel in Cubase, playback definately becomes smoother with less or no distortion/ crackles/ pops. JS 2 & 3 (32bit) are not affected and playback perfectly without any audible issues.
Great to see Rayzoon still going from strength to strength, with amazing support and dedication for it's products and customer base!! Eagerly awaiting OSX version and Jambass next year!!
The very best to all involved at Rayzoon and thanks for all the hard work going into getting Jamstix 64bit out along with all the other projects embarked on!

Tried it in Plogue Bidule 64 Bit and it's the same as in Studio One - simply nothing works.
EDIT: Tried in Reaper x64 as well - no go.
So I guess it's not the host but something with my system...
I checked the permissions and enabled all permissions for all users for the folder where it's installed, didn't help either.
Any hint on what to look for?
Thanks and cheers!
Tom

64 bit is great with Cubase 6.5, but can't figure out midi or audio jam.

You can use a MIDI send on a MIDI track -- send to the MIDI input of Jamstix. I can't figure out audio jamming though .... I can't see any audio input of the VSTi. I've recreated my test project in Reaper 4 and I can't figure out how to set up audio jamming there either (at least not yet).wxyz wrote:64 bit is great with Cubase 6.5, but can't figure out midi or audio jam.

Don't get it - that option wasn't even selected in my default installation.a_zimuth wrote:Found another bug Ralph:
Also fellow Reaper 64 users if you are seeing strange things happening such as the GUI not loading properly when adding Jamstix to a project track or menus acting completely crazy, check the following. Right click Jamstix in the add fx menu, under "Run as" deselect Embed bridged UI. It was causing me all sorts of headaches until I figured out what was going on.

Not getting that here ... N.B. I installed everything to one folder that has permissions set to User group full control. No problems in either Cubase or Reaper. I also ran the installer as a normal user, i.e. not while logged in as Administrator.reggae_greggae wrote:Don't get it - that option wasn't even selected in my default installation.a_zimuth wrote:Found another bug Ralph:

Thanks RhythmicallyChallenged, I'll check that out tomorrow and see if it makes any difference.
reggae_greggae, I enabled that option myself to prevent the small secondary window that opens when adding an effect or instrument.
UPDATE: I tried what you suggested RC and it made no difference. If I run JS with it's UI embedded in Reaper all kinds of strange graphical glitches happen and menus flake out.[/color:2edbb56b3e] [b:2edbb56b3e]:CORRECTED[/b:2edbb56b3e][/color:2edbb56b3e]
UPDATE 2: I figured out how to capture a GIF of the problem finally. It appears to happen on dropdown menu items that have sub-menus. The JS GUI also only partially loads occasionally and is often corrupted with small glitches when it fully loads. Running JS un-embedded solves these problems 100% of the time.[/color:2edbb56b3e] [b:2edbb56b3e]:CORRECTED[/b:2edbb56b3e][/color:2edbb56b3e]

Yes. This works. I gave "Full Control" to the Jamstix folder for the "Users" group and everything is running smoothly now.RhythmicallyChallenged wrote:I work around this by creating a seperate folder for all VST/VSTi plugins and granting full permission to the group Users on that folder; then I installed beta 4 into a subfolder called Jamstix3 (both the plugin and the JS VSTi). In Cubase, under Devices / Plugin information you need to add that folder to the VST2 seach path.jas_lan wrote:Having a lot of trouble here as well. All seems to be permission related. When I tried to install the paks, I was getting an error, "Can not create file C:\Program Files\Jamstix3\data\sounds\Drumstick...., access is denied, contact Rayzoon for support"
I think this is generally an issue with VST2 technology which seems to have made the assumption that everyone runs Cubase with administrative rights (not a good idea these days if you have an internet connection!).
Ralph, just wondering, when the release is ready, is the plan to use the "jamstix3.dll" name? I haven't tried renaming the "jamstix35.dll" to "jamstix3.dll" but was wondering if it would work in order to easily replace the old with the new without losing automation (I know I can use a track preset for the mixer stuff).[/color:838aab7be8]
I got this also when I tried to load jamstix35 in the VST rack with Cubase playing. It caused a hard crash of Cubase and I had to shut down then reboot. While Cubase was playing the song, I unloaded jamstix3 from the VST rack and then loaded jamstix35 (all while Cubase was still playing). I assumed it was just too much for it to handle (it was a fairly good sized project).gmon72 wrote: Also getting error message of "2170582576" is not a valid integer value when loading beta 6 into a project with an existing VST loaded in Cubase 6.51
I haven't done a lot of testing yet but I can say that everything appears to be running smoothly. I did actually have TWO instances (jamstix3 and jamstix35) BOTH running and playing at the same time in one project. It was pretty wild because they both also had Jamcussion parts playing!
