i don't think JS should focus on this, because it would be hard to beat existing samplers and hosts.
I thought the point was to suggest something to make JS3 better not to particularly beat whatsoever..
anyways I'll still keep hoping for that feature, who knows..

cheers

One major new feature in Jamstix 3 will be 'load-on-demand' for the sample engine, which will drastically reduce memory usage.

Here is a [b:43589c6bb8]REALLY REALLY UNFINISHED[/b:43589c6bb8] GUI screenshot of the brain panel showing the new integrated virtual kit and the bar editor panel. I'm just posting this to give you all an idea of the theme and quality of the GUI that we are going for with Jamstix 3. So, again, this is [b:43589c6bb8]REALLY EARLY[/b:43589c6bb8] and so [b:43589c6bb8]VERY VERY UNFINISHED[/b:43589c6bb8] :)

Whoa! Awesome first look! Kinda "Superior Drummer-esk"

One thing I will state right up front while this is very unfinished is :

Pick a font "family" and stay with it. Even in this early shot I see at 4 different font styles - ALL lending to the "cluttered" look of past versions.

I am really looking forward to this overhaul and how much this will make a difference to my workflow. It's been a struggle with 2.x to say the least....

Holy Crap! Even for an early alpha stage GUI idea...that is freaking awesome! It looks so much more "professional" than what I'm used to looking at with Jamstix! I think you are heading in the right direction without a doubt! I'm VERY impressed!

Yeah, the scheme is a little similar, but it looks good on the whole.

Agreed. The font on the tabs is quite hard to read, especially, even though I know it says 'Kit', 'Mixer', etc. I don't care for the fonts on the AUTO, BAR, and PREVIEW buttons, or on the shuffle values.

Also, depending on what the icons there will look like, the orange background to the bar editor is too bright, I'm betting there won't be enough contrast between it and the icons on top of it. Besides which, it doesn't really fit with the rest of the color scheme; I'd just make it a lightish gray.

I hope there's a better way in the new GUI to select eg. Quick Start Songs and kits. Something closer to Windows Explorer so you can at least sort by the modified date.

Thanks-
