unfortunately it's not working here. Tried it in Cubase 7.5.1 and Live9.1.1 (all 64-bit on Windows7). In both hosts Jamstix is not responding at all to AudioM8. I think I've set up everything correctly, but after switching to Audio Jam the power knob can still be adjusted with the mouse and then keeps it's position. This was not the case in older versions when it stiill worked.
Also tried the Midi Jam (although I am not really using it), it kinda works, but as I described in an earlier post, there is no release, when the last midi event has a high velocity, the power knob will stay on a high level and when the last note has a low velocity, the power knob will stay on a low level. Infinitely.

btw, seperate controls for attack and release is a good idea.

When in audio jam mode, does the AUDIO IN LED light up at all?
Also, MIDI jam does not have a fall rate (and never did).

You now have two additional controls in the OPTIONS-JAMMING page instead of the old 'response rate' knob. Think of them as attack and release of an envelope follower. 'Audio Rise Delay' is the attack time and 'Audio Fall Delay' is the release time. Also, the settings are now saved globally.

I installed latest release and played with it on a few of my regular tunes.

Test Setup: Live 9.1.1 32 bit on win 8.1 x64 pro with Jamstix 32 bit.
I'm not using the 64 bit as even though I'm on 64bit I have too many 32 bit plugins atm. (though I have bridge, I should use it sometime!)

Audio Rise Delay + Audio Fall Delay @ both 0
Attack was very quick, instantaneous to max I would say
Release was a little slower, say about 1/4 sec + to get back to 0

Just playing with the Attack it seems input gain related because if I set trim high to boost my input signal, say 2 o'clock, which will boost power knob to 100% @ attack 0 when I raise attack to max (1000ms) power will only go to 60%.

I thought the attack should work independent of input trim?
It should purely modulate the time it takes to go from 0 to 100 and the input trim modulates the max power?

Ditto for release.

When I start turning release up it I was expecting it to modulate the time or speed of decrease, but it seems to be setting the time that it will hold until it starts to decrease. I was expecting it to modulate speed of release, not release hold time.

Personally I would like to be able to adjust the attack and release speed times, with the release hold time as a separate control. The release hold I don't think needs to be any more than 1000ms like attack though, 10000ms (10sec) seems awful long?

The old dynamics seemed to be more speed based.

It's finding that dynamic attack/release speed that suits your playing style so Jamstix responds naturally under different dynamics use cases.

eg:
Playing loud and fast and do a sudden damped stop, so Jamstix (and my dynamic bass) stop as well, more or less instant. Old jamstix had a slight tail delay but it worked for this.

eg:
Playing loud but gradually decrease volume and JS responds gradually. Instant response is not ideal here as you want something a little smoother.

Old jamstix was a compromise between these two dynamics needs, at least for me, and generally worked but could respond a bit glitchy sometimes.

Ditto for the reverse cases going from soft to loud.

Does that make sense?
How do other people use it?

I think it would be just as useful there and I always missed it...

Could you comment on the Audio Host Window problem? Any chance of making it optional? I continue to hate it popping up even if I don't use Jamstix, depending on how a host deals with plugins.

Tom, are you running Beta 26? If so, you should not see the server window anymore.

MIDI jam cannot have a fall rate because the data is discreet while audio jam data is continuous. For example: if you have long MIDI organ notes, there is no MIDI data after the note-down event while audio data, by comparison, would continue to be received.

I am very sorry. I just downloaded and installed and it was still in the readme... Should have tested first... Mea Culpa.

But couldn't MIDI jam react to the note offs? So if all notes are off, have a fall rate from that moment in time? Or am I missing something? (again ).

You could that but now you also have to take sustain pedal into account. Last time we looked into this we decided that the current behavior is best for now.

Hm. Well, I never use(d) Midi Jam because of the missing fall rate and found it pretty unnatural, so I wonder if your decision stands the reality check?

Maybe give the user some options?

Since Midi actually contains more accessible data that could be analysed, I always found it a bit sad that it seems actually less usable than Audio Jam. It would for instance be possible to kind of accumulate velocities in a buffer and take the average over a certain amount of time. That together with a fall rate would make it much more interesting...
Note speed could also be interesting to analyse ) more notes -> more dynamic or faster playing of the drummer.
I always thought this to be a missed opportunity.

But that's just my view of course, YMMV

No, the Audio IN LED doesn't light up (neither in Cubase, nor in Live). I must admit that I didn't look at this LED up to now. When it worked it was surely flashing, but that never caught my attention and now as it's not working and thus not flashing, I overlooked it completely.

Is the 3.6 beta compatible with mac osx yet?
