Sheppol is using the REAPERBypass option in the jamstix2.ini file. That is why he has to use CTRL when he saves. The option suppresses all data saves from JS2 unless that key is pressed. There is no need to use this option unless a user experiences annoying delays when closing the FX window in REAPER with JS.

I've just purchased and installed JS2, and I'm trying to get it to work with a song I've previously has JS1 doing it's thing in.

- load song
- remove all JS1 stracks
- load JS2 as a new VSTi (Insert -> Virtual Instrument on new track -> JS2 8 outputs)
- load "metal style"
- select a drummer
- put audiom8 on a guitar track
- select jam with audio
- press play.

All I'm getting is someone keeping time on the highhat and the occasional fill.

*shrug*

edit: Weird as. I put the audiom8 on the bass track (centered) as opposed to the right panned guitar track and it's working now.

edit: I dunno, it works on either track now...

Willy.

My guess would be that you need to turn the power knob up. It defaults pretty low and therefore doesn't play very much at first. Crank that sucker up and you should hear a difference! Hope that helps!

Yeah I did notice that it wasn't up very high and tried turning it but it kept going back to whatever audiom8 was feeding it AFAICT, and increasing the input gain trim or bringing the reference track itself up didn't help.

I think I agree with you - it must have been the power knob, but it's working now and I don't know what I did different.

Ok, here's a new one:

Rendered offline down to an mp3 in reaper, and all I got were the no-power hihat and fill style thing (all the instruments were present, just not JS).

Works fine when I play it though... Actually, for some reason Audiom8 just seems to be really inconsistent. I have a couple of instances of it on a couple of tracks:

One on the main dirty guitar that goes through to the main mix.

One on a guitar that doesn't because I just want Animal going sick on the metal kit for 8 bars (that one works really well) with nothing else going.

One on the bass just to make sure!

Maybe I should be moaning on the reaper forum - restarting reaper seems to have fixed it.

Are you using audioM8?

Yeah, I am, as per my edit above, but I'm not getting the proper drums in the mixdown/render...

It sounds to me as if you are mixing down the JS2 track only. Since audioM8 then doesn't see a signal, the power knob in JS2 go to zero.

One solution is to include the track with audioM8 in the mixdown and check MUTE in audioM8 so the source signal is not in the mixdown.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough - I'm trying to mix down a whole project - vocs, guitars, bass, JS2... Everything else is there in the rendered stereo file except good old John who's decided to tap away on the hihat instead.

I have three tracks with audiom8 in the mixdown!!

Thanks for the fast replies though Ralph.

Edit: Well.... I set JS2 to "Jam No Input", rolled the power up to where I wanted it, and it worked.

I'm assuming I now have the previous jammed drum track in the mixdown. Even if it's not, it's close enough at this stage of things.
