You can add multiple groove importers and then use 'Priority' to layer them.

We know nothing is free in this world but, jeez, how many features are we missing from a thin manual...?

I can only hope the 3.0 manual has tons of how-to, tricks, tips and tutorials.

Ralph, if you know some of your users are power users, why not put them in a "advanced beta program as long as you promise to write a few tutorials"?

Everybody could win from this.

Given that Jamstix is already a very feature rich and powerful package, and will be more so in version 3, I also would find it really helpful to have as detailed a manual as possible. I know different people learn in different ways and some will never look at the manual but I like as much information as possible. This helps me experiment. I also know that for creative people like Ralph, writing a manual must be absolute torture!
But for the manual to be helpful it has to be written by someone (or more than one person?) who knows the package inside out.

Comments on various forums have indicated that some people are put off buying Jamstix because of a (perceived) steep learning curve. There will be the new feature in version 3 to help get started (can't remember what its called) but anything that helps people buy, and use the package effectively, must be good!

We will also put more time/energy in video tutorials for JS3.

+10,000 for this. I've been messing with Jamstix since the version 1 release and through lots and lots of experimenting, reading these forums and just plain goofing around I'm only know starting to feel that I know a little bit about the program. The best thing I've ever seen in regards to helping me understand the program was when Ben Vesco put his little tutorial up on his site a couple of years back. That helped a tremendous amount, and I waited and waited for more....but none ever came.

Unfortunately, as much as I have learned, I know I still haven't even begun to scratch the surface of this program and I'm waiting eagerly for 3 to come out..even in beta form as the listed features SOUND exciting to me. There is indeed a perceived learning curve to the software- but I think all it would take is several pointers in the right direction and I may get that *click* to finally happen. As much as I hate to admit it after all the time spent "Just Playing With It" - I have yet to produce ANY usable results with the software - not that they aren't possible - but in the small amount of time that I DO have to sit down with my DAW, I really don't have the time to spend trying to go into so much detail to try to get it to work for me. I really want to "start up and go" as much as possible if that makes any sense.

Thanks!
Jeff

Be creative Ralph, ask veterans to provide tutorials and get free upgrades... You should not be the guy doing everything!

Rock on!

I totally agree.I nearly didn't bother with Jamstix because the Demo is silly. There should be NO intros to any of the default songs.I gave up the 1st couple of times because I wasn't getting any sound.
When some one loads this to try they want it to work out-of-the-box with little or no messing around.
I think business is being lost because of this!

To this end and for you Ralph and JS2 I've made a small 800k Reaper demo that will
load and play JS straight off with basic instructions. You are welcome to use it or the idea.It includes a free small synth vst.

Could we maybe have a separate tutorial forum where people can post tips, hint and fully fledged demos and tutorials?

if I want to update do I have to install it above 2.52 ? or a whole new version 3 install.
I would prefer to get a whole new install with version 3. throw away my version 2.
I change my system regurlary and get tired of instal program after program.
