- load a drum kit in SD format
- load a Jamcussion kit
- make sure 'No MIDI Output For Internal Sounds' is checked in the kit menu so the Jamcussion notes don't trigger SD.

Jamstix bug with Cubase 7.5.20

When editing jamstix, the cubase "framing" around jamstix disappears which makes is impossible to move or close the window. To get the framing back you have to click away from jamstix, inside your cubase workspace ...and you can then move or close it normally, as long as you dont click inside the jamstix screen.

There is a lag when dragging jamstix around....but i believe its a know issue?

Running OSX 10.9.2 on macbook-pro 15" retina, late-2013 model.

Ok, well one of the issues now I'm having trouble reproducing. I'll keep playing with it and see if I can get it to happen again. The main thing I'm noticing is graphics-related. I'll take a screenflow and post a link to a quick vid.

In the meantime, is there any documentation yet on the steps to configure Jamstix in Logic Pro X to send MIDI Out to another drum sampler plugin? I know it requires the use of an IAC bus, just not sure what to do in LPX to set it up.

Ok I was able to reproduce this bug.

Open Logic Pro X (10.0.6)
Instantiate Jamstix
Load Dial-A-Metal song
Hit the spacebar to start playback - [b:839c791734]screen blinks nothing happens.[/b:839c791734]
Hit spacebar again, playback starts successfully

Hit spacebar again to stop playback - [b:839c791734]screen blinks, playback won't stop and nothing can be controlled in Jamstix nor Logic - everything is locked. [/b:839c791734]Playback is still going though.

Hit spacebar a couple more times, screen blinks each time, then finally a Logic error dialog box pops up that says:

[b:839c791734][i:839c791734]"Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI. Sample Rate 32061 recognized. Check conflict between Logic Pro X and External Device."[/i:839c791734][/b:839c791734]

Once you click "Continue" on that dialog box, Jamstix will finally let you minimize its window, and only then can you stop playback via Logic transport.

Let me know if you need a logfile or something to this effect.

Hey Ralph,

you may want to try this in Bitwig Studio too - I get weird graphics issues (white screen) and errors on load: www.bitwig.com has a free demo for all systems and I'm sure you could exchange NFRs with them.

(sorry, lost a long report with a browser crash and don't have the time and nerve right now to retype it all...)

Thanks and cheers,

Tom

Hi there,

got the same Error-Message "Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI ..." with no device connected, which should be synchronized.

The CPU-Usage is also at it's maximum.

In between Logic Pro X crashed two times, while Jamstix was still open.

EDIT:
Running the song came up with crackles and distorted sounds

Please send me /Documents/jamstix3/rzdlog.txt. Also, when you have synch issues, does the MIDI In LED of Jamstix light up?

[b:483f648bf3]ding_dong:[/b:483f648bf3]
Jamstix uses two separate processes, one in the host and one outside. Unfortunately, Cubase does its own window management based on parent process, which can lead to some odd stuff. On top of that, OSX still does not have window sharing implemented (although it's in the API). That's why you have the drag delay issue. We'll do our best to find further work-arounds but this is as good as we can do it right now under these OSX limitations. (NOTE: Most plugins don't have GUI processes outside of the host process so they don't suffer from these limitations)

Manuals are in ~/Library/Application Support/Jamstix3/data/docs. Next Beta will have a link to them in the song menu.

[b:483f648bf3]stpete11:[/b:483f648bf3]
- in OSX 'Audio MIDI Setup' add IAC port named 'JAMSTIX' and activate it
- in Logic MIDI Environment, remove the routing of SUM to the sequencer input and create a cable from JAMSTIX port to desired drum instrument (i.e SSD or AD)
- if there is latency, click TIME in JS song sheet and move song time slider left until drums are in synch with click or other instruments
