Any update on Jamstix for Monterey (intel) ?

Although I can fully understand the prioritization its sad having to say goodbye to jamstix on Mac.

The Logic Pro drummer works smoothly, but is no way near the performance and level of control that jamstix can offer. Even just version 1 or 2 of jamstix completely outperforms Logic drummer.

Only workaround I can see if your main daw is Logic is to do bootcamp (or run windows virtually perhaps?). Then load jamstix in reaper and once you’re happy export as midi/audio and import that in logic.

Don’t know if that’s a viable solution for the new apple silicon Mx machines…

Another option if you have an old pc laying around is to run Vienna ensemble pro on the oc and host jamstix there. Not a cheap solution though

I would love to see Jamstix 4 working on mac but if it’s not going to there are a number of alternatives - Superior Drummer 3 and Groove Agent 5 are both very capable and although they don’t offer the same degree of jamming functionality as Jamstix, Groove Agent 5 in particular can be played live and (certainly in Cubase) through some group channel routing this live jamming can be recorded in real time.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t SD just a large pre-defined collection of grooves and fills? To me the magic of jamstix is it’s ability to make a unique drum track fitted to the groove and feel of my song (rock n roll, sing a song writer etc… not EDM). I will see if groove agent is any fun in Logic. I really, really miss the detailed level of control jamstix is giving me.

Wouldn't the cheaper option be to host it in Reaper?

For anyone interested, I have been able to use Jamstix on my Mac, by using a free tool called AudioGridder. Jamstix runs on a PC over the network. It actually works pretty well so far. So if you have a PC in your network, you can install Jamstix there, and use it through audiogridder over to your Mac.

Actually there is a good chance this would work also on windows running in a VM on the Mac too, but it will be some time before I can test that. That would use a bit more CPU, but would avoid a network hop.

Here's hoping Ralph can get Jamstix working on newer versions of macOS directly though.
