Sheppol_A: your comments are highly appreciated! If I gave the impression that they were not then I apologize!

Back to your issue: if there is one thing I learned over the last 4 years it is that you just cannot please everyone and that the day has 24h :)

Jamstix, in its current form, is a complex product that will often not appeal to the 'no frills' user. We are working on a different product line for that market, using the Jamstix engine but with a MUCH simpler interface and, consequently, much less features. Just think about what actual features EZDrummer (a brilliant product) really has compared to JS? It plays back MIDI notes, has a MIDI file library and a basic mixer. That's about it. Naturally, it can offer a much easier-to-learn interface.

I concur but please try and sort out the Interface in JS3 so you don't lose an opportunity.Even if JS is more complex that doesn't mean the interface has to be hard to work with

Hi

I feel it might be helpful to echo both Sheppol and Ralph’s comments about the GUI. I feel that it is a big improvement ascetically however practically I do feel we should have the option to resize it. I thought the Sheppol’s suggestion of having a separate page/screen for the bar editor was a valid point. I do spend most of my time on this aspect of Jamstix and it may also free up some space to make all those associated brain features a little clearer and even have them all visible at once… The bar editor and the brain are the real learning challenge to Jamstix and this needs to be as accessible and clear as possible. However, I must also says that I would prefer to not to compromise any of the current features to provide an user-friendly GUI. It takes a while to get to grips with what this piece of software does and what it has to offer. There is always something new to discover which will add to your creativity. This is one of the great things about this product despite the workflow….

But of course it would be good to have the best of both worlds.

I have a question, will all JS and JS2 kits (including Jamcussion, Metal and Bonzo packs) and songs presets be available without the user needing to manual copy them to the JS3 folder?

JS3 will come with its own kits and quickstart songs. We are working on a migration function for JS3 to copy data from a JS2 installation if present.

It would be so bad if I could use my Scroll wheel when in the Bar editor instead of having to keep moving the Window sliders? But still it takes up too much real-estate and nothing to do with Monitor size or resolution :/

Hi folks,
I too run at 1024 x 768 resolution, and its quite frustrating that JS Beta 3 runs off the screen. A partial fix, in Reaper at least, is insert JS3 on a track. Click the FX button to open the JS3 GUI ,then rightclick on the empty space left of screen, and choose "window float selected FX". JS3 then opens its GUI to fullscreen, with a bit of resizing, scrollbars are gone and its all visible :D

Works for me anyway 8)

cheers,
Les
