We check every upgrade order. If someone buys the upgrade and does not have a Jamstix 1, 2 or 3 license on file with us, we refund the order and do not delivery the key.

Great! Thank you very much, Ralph.
Question about upgrade to JS4

Hello,
let me add a few questions about the upgrade process.
Let's say I have JS3 (XL plus other expansions like Bonzo) installed and running.
I get JS4 upgrade, and as far as I understand I will have it side by side with JS3 as a different plugin - fine for me.
Questions:
1) Will I have to install all the packs again in a location different than JS3 packs, thus taking twice the disk space, to get the JS4 kit updates?
Or can I just overwrite the JS3 ones with the updated JS4 content?
2) Can I download the packs outside the manager, so that I can repeat the installation if needed without having to download everything again?
Thanks,
Mario

Hi Mario,
1) When you install Jamstix 4, under "Install Options" in the Jamstix Manager you can "tell" Jamstix 4 to use the existing Jamstix 3 sounds so you do not have to install another sound library. So that way Jamstix 3 & 4 will both function just fine without the need for additional disk space. Jamstix 4 will install its sound data to a different folder otherwise by default.
2) When you download with the Jamstix Manager, all of the installation data is available locally on your disk so you can repair the installation without the need for downloading data. HTH

Thanks for the prompt and useful reply!
But then, if I choose to share content between js3 and js4, how can I get js4 updates for the packs and would these work in js3 also?

Hi Mario,
The Manager will install all of the needed data for your Paks and use the existing sounds from JS3. Ralph would have to explain the specifics for you but I can tell you firsthand that it works great. I have JS4 with all available Paks and JS3 installed on my system.

Mario,
I apologize but this is incorrect. You still need an net connection for the Manager to run, I forgot that. Ralph is working on an offline install handler but I don't know when that is going to happen. Sorry about that.

The only thing JS3 and JS4 can share as described by Azimuth, is the sample data, which takes by far the most of the disk space that JS3 and JS4 require. Everything else is separate.

There is one small exception to that.
A very long time ago, there was a promotion where the Metal styles and drummers (but not the drums) were included with the AI pack. When I upgraded to JS4, these did not appear.
Fortunately I was able to copy the files from JS3 to JS4 and everything seemed to work out fine.

I too have copied my old Jamstix3 "Players" into the Jamstix 4 folder. (I used to have Danny, Jason, Lars, Mike and Noah but it's red out now in the Metal section)
