Looking for help getting Whiskey Train by Procol Harem beats together. intro has to be custom i believe. then what drummer and settings Might Work for main theme.

It's not the entire song just an idea to work off of. I would use Machine as the Drummer since you'll be mostly hand editing and set the Fill focus to mostly Snare with minimal Toms. Hope it helps.

not sure how to implement tempo map. does the tempo vary that greatly.?
i was just going to go with 125 bpm.

I use Reaper and it is really easy but I don't know what DAW you are using. 125bpm should be close enough, it varies a few bpm here and there.

wont the tempo vary on all rock songs from 60-70s that where not synced?
or are certain parts dragging and speeding up.?
i should have said never imported a tempo map into reaper.
i looked it up , simple.

Yes, there was no such thing as a click track in those days. That's just the natural tempo fluctuations that occur when humans record live in the studio together.
