So in doing my first song with Jamstix I was playing around with having it do a Transition fill. After reading the manual I was adjusting the Snare and Tom Focus to see if I could get a good mix of snare and toms in a fill.
It seemed to me that by changing those settings it would cause a re-creation of the fill but it didn't necessarily correlate with the knobs i was adjusting.
For example, I turned the snare focus down to almost 0 and the tom focus up to about %80 and the fill was still mostly snares.
What am I misunderstanding or doing wrong here?
Thank you for your help[/img]

I wish I had a better answer than that's just the way it is. The Fill controls have always been the most unpredictable ones. I usually just focus on Fill length, which is usually predictable, and recompose until I get close to what I want. I'll then hand edit if I need something specific.
Usually by controlling fill length, varying the Style/Drummer slider, adjusting the Double Strokes controls and the Character generator, I'll get something I'm happy with.
You can also experiment with locking all song parts then unlocking fill events and loading a different Player to recompose the fills only. Sort of like Steely Dan, bring in 20 different players and choose from the best performances. Also, use the Quick Save Slots to store the ones you're happy with while continuing to experiment.

Some fill ideas of drummers and styles will not translate well from snare to tom or vice versa and they will be excluded from focus changes. As Azimuth said, it's a bit of "that's just the way it is" where we ended up as we coded all this stuff and the various interacting layers.
Having said that, if there's specific situation you'd like to be reviewed, send us a Jamstix song file to the support email and tell us the bar # to look at.

Ok, thanks for your answers. Not quite what I was hoping for. At least I know it is not just me.
