Copy and pasting multiple bars at once?
Hey! Often I have a drum pattern that spans two bars, and it's awkward to keep it going.
Like bar One and Two are a complete pattern, and I want it to repeat on bars Three and Four of a part, and I have to paste them individually- One onto Three, and then Two onto Four.
Ideally I'd like to [b:209b6ae22c]select bar One and Two and paste them onto bar Three and Four.[/b:209b6ae22c]
Is that possible somehow? I can't figure it out. Thanks!

That is something that I don’t know how to do without using classic style, where you can select 2bar, or the 2bar rock. I am very interested in answers to your question, as I like to make patterns spanning two bars, too (or is too stupid what I am saying? Like someone said in a TV comercial in my country a couple of years ago).

Use “Turn Groove into Style†on the bar menu. With your first bar selected, it will ask you how many bars you want to use (select 2). Now, you can copy as a part. For 4 bars total, just select 2 repetitions.

Hi,
I do the same thing as jas-lan except I use "Save Groove as Style" in the Bar drop down menu. This way I can save the groove with a descriptive name in the @ User Styles folder. That way it is available and easily located for future use if needed. I name what I save with the format of "Song Name"+"Song Part Type"+"Number".

jas-lan- Thanks for responding! I just tried it, but it seems to break the "Recompose" button.
My process is that I'll write a simple beat, use Midi Learn to enter it into Jamstix, then let the AI go to town on it. But if I can't Recompose the bars, they're all gonna sound the same, which pretty much defeats the purpose! [b:a93ca646a6]Is there a way to "unlock" the grooves?[/b:a93ca646a6]
But if that doesn't exist yet, instead of overhauling the Grooves engine, I really just need a simple way of copying two (or more) bars worth of locked elements and pasting them into other, empty bars, so they can be recomposed normally.
Thanks!

Are your song parts linked? All linked song parts will be identical. If they are and you want them varied: Song drop down menu>Global Actions>Unlink All Parts. Then you can recompose them independently.

O_O I am running v4.3.1 and I do not have "Unlink All Parts". Is this a super new feature?
EDIT: Should I have mentioned I'm exclusively using Jamcussion (PERC)? Does that matter?

Hi,
Yes the Unlink All function was added in 4.4.0. You can unlink song parts individually by double clicking on the desired part in the Song Sheet and in the window that opens change the "Linked to" selection to "Unlinked" if I remember correctly. It works the same for Jamcussion.

A_Zimuth- Ah! Thank you, but that's not what I'm having trouble with.
Right now, I'll make a four bar groove in Verse 1 (bars 1 through 4), then when I make the part repeat 4 times, the duplicated bars are all exactly the same! Then, if I recompose bar 5, it recomposes bars 1, 5, 9 and 13, and they're STILL exactly the same.
Is there a way to break the links between the bars within a part, while retaining the Locked Elements?
(Also, they're no longer Locked Elements in bars 5 - 16, so when I dial up "Skip Notes" they start disappearing, but that only becomes important if we can solve this first thing.
)
And I could sidestep all of this if I could just copy and paste more than one bar at a time.
I only keep mentioning it because it seems like the simplest solution, yet doesn't seem possible at the moment.

You can't copy multiple bars but what you could do is use the Bar drop down "Extract Part" which will copy and paste the number of bars you choose into a new independent song part. Not exactly what you are looking for but workable I would think.
