Understanding how+when Jamstix composes/changes grooves

Strange it works here. Did you try going into the Kit window and lowering the minimum volume for the Snare to zero in the Velocity Behavior pane?

That's a good point! I have lowered snare volume at the Kit window to zero (it was 25%) and although snare velocity on bar item (Groove window) is still stated at V10 and still can't be lowered, the sound is now OK - snare silence. Hooray, that's what I want to achieve.

So, to summarize how to set 4th bar without snares:
1) Add Snare Grid via Brain>Add.
2) Right click on added Grid's name, set Frequency to "Last Bar" and remove all green dots in its matrix.
3) In the "Last Bar" (4th bar) Grid on Groove window, select snare hits and with mouse wheel set velocity to zero.
4) Go to Kit windows and lower the minimum volume "MIN VOL" for the Snare to zero in the Velocity Behavior panel

I'm just think that this is a great example how much knowledge and skills are required for a simple task like this. I would probably never find a solution without you in reasonable time and will give up. That's annoying/pity for me because I have bought JM4 for fun (not work) and didn't realize that almost every "simple" customization task will consume so much energy and not only mine, of course. I discovered while digging a little deeper on this that you do not even have to remove the existing Snare generator. Just add the Snare Grid and assign it to the last bar and then do your other steps.

I'm glad that I could help you with this, and no thanks are needed. I learn a lot of the things I know about Jamstix by doing exactly this type of thing. This was a perfect example of something I'd never thought of but when you asked about it I was motivated to figure out how it could be done. So now we both know how it can be done. Keep the faith, the more you use Jamstix, the easier it gets. I know that's not an answer to the learning curve but the more you use it the more things make sense and thus ease of use follows suit significantly.

I did report the issues I found with the grids to Ralph but have not heard back from him yet.

Just to clarify you do not need to add 2 Snare Grids, only one.

Yes, leave the existing Snare generator as is and add just one Snare Grid and set its' Frequency to "Last Bar". I also heard from Ralph and the grid issues will be addressed.
