Jamstix 4 - Post-Release Plans

Post by cursors_ »

I also don't like subscriptions and I rather prefer to pay for Expansions or MiniPaks. I've been using Jamstix 4 Beta on Ableton 10 Beta and Reason 10 and apart from a small problem I get sometimes (audio slows down when you change the "Amount" knob) I am really impressed with it.
Can I ask, I know you have a new Jamstix 4 manager, is it possible to save the Zip file like it you can do in your Jamstix Personal Download Page?. I'm asking because sometimes people are not able to use the Internet.
Thanks, Richard

The manager requires an Internet connection to function. We are looking into an offline mode where you would run the manager on a machine that has Internet and it would package everything into a folder, which you can then transfer to the offline computer for installation.

Jamstix 4 - Post-Release Plans

I would say that, generally, I don't like the idea of subscriptions. I would prefer a "bought and paid for" product. But the devil is in the details. I have paid roughly $250-$300 over (I think) more than six years for Jamstix products (and very happy with them, I might add). That would come to around $4 per month. I don't know what the going rate for subscriptions would be but I imagine they are more than that. Then there is the "dependency" on the continued support and development of the product which, with a bought and paid for product that works without continued authorization from the company, is not a concern.

Bottom line is that I would have to see specific details on the subscription but my gut instinct is to buy and permanently own the product.

I should have been more specific in the first place. I'm NOT talking about a subscription to USE Jamstix. I'm talking about a subscription for additional content to be delivered monthly, separate from upgrades, expansions, miniPaks etc.. Also, once delivered, it is installed on your system. You can cancel the subscription and still keep any content delivered up to that day.

So, $49 for js3->js4 upgrade?

Any other costs associated with js4 assuming I own all of the js3 ad-paks.

No other costs. You own JS3 Studio so the $49 upgrade gives you Jamstix 4 Studio.

The big question I have is what new styles and drummers have been added and which will be seen as part of the release and which post-release?

No new styles but three new drummer models will arrive after the release: Dylan, Chris and Gavin.
