What is the general status of Rayzoon?

Post by kindafishy_ »

It seems to be all crickets around here lately.

Jamstix is a truly wonderful product. I sincerely hope that there is something on the horizon that will generate Rayzoon some serious revenue. It looks like getting a version of this software working on both Mac and Windows was a huge effort, so I hope it was worth it in increased sales. Maybe many new customers are still signing up pretty steadily? I hope so.

Anyway, there is the existing customer base too. I love free upgrades, but I also understand the importance of supporting a business when, as a consumer, one would like to see it continue, grow and thrive.

What do we have to look forward to that we can purchase from you?

New kit samplings?

New major version of Jamstix?

New AIPak?

I would really like to get a sense of how the business is doing in general.

I don't see any promises there. Just Ralph saying he is not ready to give out details.

The OP asked about what is coming down the pipe from Jamstix:

"New major version of Jamstix? "

I have stated that Jamstix has promised JamStix 4 is underdevelopment. And Ralph mentioned he will provide details at some point.

We are working on various platform issues to simplify coding and maintenance as we move forward. This is impacting our product timeline and I understand if you are frustrated by these delays. A few years ago, all we needed to support was 32-bit PC VST. Now we support 8 platform/format/bit combinations. We need to minimize the impact this has on development times. We also need to do this in a way that will finally allow us to have a Jamstix-derivative for iOS.

We need to provide a simplified product that delivers Jamstix-like performances with minimized user input. This has been requested by our current user base but will also entice non-customers that are put off by the learning curve in Jamstix. At the same time, we need Jamstix 4 to keep all of you guys happy :)

There is a new concept that is part of the 'simplified Jamstix' effort. We are quite excited about it but I can't give out too many details at this time, other than its taking up a good chunk of our time. It centers around this question:
"If the user hits a single key on the MIDI keyboard in some kind of pattern that the user thinks reflects the desired groove, not necessarily in a kick/snare pattern, but more as a pulse sequence as you would if you were tapping on your chair while listening to a song, how much information about the style, groove, accents, fills can we glean auto or semi-automatically from this?"

We also have various MiniPaks in the pipeline and would love to finally get the time to resurrect JamBassist development.

Thanks for your continued patience and support!

Sounds amazing already Ralph. You do what you need to do. Jamstix has an amazing reputation already based on your vision so far.. And that is because of not only your attention to your customer base, but the quality of product you put out there as well. In Ralph we trust! Hshaha

So, we should expect something by Tuesday, then? :D

That all sounds awesome. I'm intrigued by the "single key" thing, although I usually use TWO fingers when I tap out a beat!

And I'm still holding out hope that JamBassist comes along one of these days. Maybe Wednesday....

Awesome, Ralph. I was feeling a little worried, but I see that it was misplaced. No more worry.

Best of luck to you and much success.

Really looking forward to giving you money for JS4. This such a great product, you deserve more of my cash! How many other audio software providers can we say that about!?

Keep pushing Ralph, we are all really keen!

Exactly. So we're working on an algorithm that, if you only use one finger, decides snare placement by itself or using hints you can provide afterwards. If you use two fingers, the lower key will be interpreted as you desired snare placement.
