Jamstix 3.6 OSX - Final RC Available

Can't be done as this would have to be a host feature. You can drag/drop MIDI files from Explorer onto the brain, however.

Yea I said it backwards/wrong- thats what I meant. So this beta will allow the midi out to run the other software... good!

Ok...fair enough. Could you please talk to Steinberg so we can have the feature in the next cubase update ;)

Asking now in the right thread ; )... Running Mav... On the Import area for adding other midi content styles... What I am seeing (maybe I don't yet understand what is needed here yet) is at first no midi grooves are listed on the right side when I first select the MAIN midi folder inside EZDrummer. Yes I have "Include Subfolders" checked. The Main folder is located at /Library/Application Support/EZDrummer/Midi, and has different sub folders, but "[NO MATCHING FILES]" is what Im seeing on the right, at first... Now, do I need to pick every folder there, or can JS look in the main Midi folder and find all the sub folders with midi files in them (which is why I checked sub folders)??? Then, when restarting the host and going back into the import area I do see some midi groove files but no sub folders, so I don't even know where these grooves are because EZDrummer has many "sub folders" with different midi grooves in them, under the main "Midi" folder within EZDrummer. What am I doing wrong here??? It does not seem to be updating the folder when I change it. And I can't seem to clear/remove the folders picked either (on the left side) and that would be a nice thing too ; ).

Also- Im noticing that when I do get into the import area and after trying to import, I have a hard time finding my way back to the regular (default) jamstix styles and drummers list. To the point of having to use Jamstix manager to reinstall the styles and drummers.

I disappear from the forum and come back to find an OSX version of Jamstix - yay!

Okay, on my MacBook running Mavericks and Studio One 2.6.2 (64 bit)

First scan from Studio One causes it to crash, but is fine subsequently.

Creating a song and running it gives absolutely horrendous CPU peaks when playing. When not playing the CPU usage is about what I might expect from an instrument in a quiescent state.

However, I have just tried the latest 64 bit release of REAPER and when playing the same song the CPU sits at around 5% to 6% when playing, which is fine.

Also tried in Tracktion 5.3.5 and the CPU usage nudges it way up to around 15%.

This is all using the ob-board sound at 128 sample latency which is what I usually work at. I'll try it on a better audio interface later.

Just got to loading 3.6 Beta 30 on my iMac, 12Gigs with Logic Express. No functional issues to report although when I drag JS around the screen, it takes a second for JS to repaint in the window in it's new position.

It's just happening with JS. If I load SD2 or EZD into the same project, they repaint immediately.

Just thought I'd point it out. I'm running Mavericks 10.9.3.

Thanks.

Hi Dave
I asked a smilar question about the window thing using Cubase....and Ralph replied:

"Jamstix uses two separate processes, one in the host and one outside. Unfortunately, Cubase does its own window management based on parent process, which can lead to some odd stuff. On top of that, OSX still does not have window sharing implemented (although it's in the API). That's why you have the drag delay issue. We'll do our best to find further work-arounds but this is as good as we can do it right now under these OSX limitations. (NOTE: Most plugins don't have GUI processes outside of the host process so they don't suffer from these limitations) "

Maybe its a similar problem with Logic. I just hope they will find a nice fix in the future :)

Chopped Liver here...

Did anyone else have issues with the import midi stuff(folders and files), or is that just me and my end? Using both Cubase 7.5x and Logic X, latest versions. On an iMac with 16 gigs ram running OSX Mavericks.
