Tom Toms on different tracks?

Post by saddle_d »

Is there a way to get the toms to output on different tracks? I like to process each track in my DAW (reaper) differently, but so far the only way to get a stereo image of my toms is to pan them in the Jamstix mixer, use stereo outputs and use it that way. Sometimes I record to stems and use it that way as well. Process the dry tracks.

Any way to do this?

Thanks

You can set the toms to different audio outputs in the kit editor.

2 quick ways to build the routing in Reaper. The first is when you add the track for Jamstix, right click the TCP and choose "Insert virtual instrument on new track" When you do this you will see a dialog that describes the routing/sub tracks that will automatically get built for you. The other is if you already have a Jamstix track, open the FX dialog, highlight Jamstix and choose "build multi channel routing for output.....
You will still need to open the Jamstix kit editor and pick the corresponding output to match your new tracks, but it works really well. Once you get it all set up, highlight all the tracks and save it as a track template. Now next time you can just add a track from template and everything will be ready to go.

Thanks for all your help. I've templates, but never thought about creating one with toms, hats and cymbals on their own audio track till now. But I'll definitely be using now...
