Jamstix 3.6.0 Final Release Candidate Available
Hi Ralph,
most things in the latest betas 12 and 13 seem to work as they should. GUI stays on top in Cubase7.5, which is great.
But during my testing I found the following odd behaviour:
Loading one of the quickstart songs after loading Jamstix the first time seems to work, but clicking on wizard and selecting another quickstart song renders Jamstix unusable.
The kit window remains emtpy and also the mixer and options window are not showing anything, no audio when the host is started, switching between groove-accent-fill is no longer possible, selecting parts by clicking them is not possible.
When the GUI is closed and reopened, most sections of it are emtpy, even the parts list and the window with the style and player elements, the bar counter shows 999:08 and the power and min. dynamic level knob are turned fully counter clockwise, etc. etc.
This behaviour isn't host related, it's at least the same in Cubase and Live9 (everthing is 64bit on Windows7).
Can you reproduce this or can anyone else confirm?
If it helps I can send you some screenshots or other files.
By the way, AudioM8 isn't working yet, is it?

Can you provide an exact, step-by-step, process? I am using Cubase 6.5.5 and had no problem with doing consecutive Quickstart Songs. I just want to see if I am doing the same steps as you.max.noise wrote:Hi Ralph,

Here are the steps:
- new, empty song (either in Cubase or Live)
- loading Jamstix on a midi track
- loading a quickstart song
- starting the host
>>> everything is fine
- stopping the host
- clicking wizard
- loading another quickstart song
>>> Jamstix becomes unusable as described above

This appears to be working normally here. I tried loading Jamstix in the Instrument Rack and on an Instrument Track (you can't load Jamstix ON a MIDI track). I can't seem to reproduce it.max.noise wrote:Here are the steps:

Ralph,
I have seen two things I would like to report. Occasionally, I get a white GUI and the message, "Can not create core element" or something like that. I will try to get it again and get the exact wording. I remember getting it twice on the FIRST initialization of the GUI in a session. After closing it, removing Jamstix from the Instrument Rack and re-creating the instance, it seems to work fine.
Another thing...
In my Jamstix directory, I have the Jamstix3.dll file (also audioM8.dll) and then, in a subfolder called "bin" folder and in that, there is a "64" folder. In that folder I have ANOTHER jamstix3.dll (and another audioM8.dll) AND a Jamstix.exe file. My Cubase VST path points to the Jamstix3 folder so, it is seeing all the subfolders as well. Should I have multiple copies of the .dll file? And should I be pointing Cubase such that it sees only one of them? Both of the jamstix3.dll files are dated the day of installation (2/4/2014).

I was also getting the white GUI aswell...then i took the .dll out of my vst folder (removed it so reaper doesn't see it) and jamstix instantiated fine? Weird but it worked for me...

So, is reaper now not seeing the .dll files ANYWHERE or did you put them somewhere else and point Reaper to that location?craig_glenn wrote:I was also getting the white GUI aswell...then i took the .dll out of my vst folder (removed it so reaper doesn't see it) and jamstix instantiated fine? I am a little confused. I have always let plug-in installers put the .dll files in the "default" folders and then add the path to them in Cubase. I do it this way RATHER than putting them in the VST folder so that when they update, the installer can find them. With Jamstix, I was keeping the .dll files in the jamstix folder and adding that folder to the Cubase VST paths. But now, I suspect that by telling the Jamstix installer to put them there, it is causing a duplicate of the .dll file.
Ralph, please advise.
