Suggestions for 6/8 meter?

Post by Marc Farmer »

Kick on 1, Snare on 4, open hat and ride cymbol on 8ths. heavy celtic rock style with fills mixed in the pattern I am having difficulty with it. Do I need to create a basic pattern myself?

You'll want to set the appropriate groove weights, and then you can go to add- classic kick and snare grid, and use that to put in your kick and snare pattern. As for the fills mixed in the pattern, I think the only way to do this is with accents, hopefully you can find a style and drummer that have accents that will do what you want there.

Isn't this the 6/8 rock style? You may have to play with the weights and all, but its kick on 1 snare on 4. I am doing a slow ballad kind of like John Mayer's gravity and its a cool style.
