No CC4 Hihat control for Superior 2?

Post by tombuur »

Too me it looks like there is no CC4 control of hihats for Superior 2. In jamstix.ini there is only a [drummer] which is Superior 1. Shouldn't there be a [Superior Drummer], and can I just add it myself to turn on CC4?

I remember Ralph saying a while back that you could add it yourself, but I don't remember the exact format.

I will try [Superior Drummer]
CC4=1

Still I have more problems than this. I just acquired Steven Slate Drums too and they run through Kontakt Player. They too can use control of hihats, but seemingly with CC1. How to solve that?

Furthermore I think there should be a "Midi Only" kit besides the empty kit. I can't find any way to set up a kit that only sends midi signals according to my template, take Steven Slate Drums as an example. But it is perfectly possible that you have different kits with different midi assignments running in Kontakt. So what we need is a way to setup kits where you can name the subhost yourself, assign CC1, CC4 or whatever to hihat control if need, and make it midi only if that is what you want.

The current system where the subhosted software is not loaded when midi only is selected won't do. I have accidentally loaded kits sometimes wwith memory overload and crash, so please a midi only option for kits to safeguard against this.

We are talking JS2. I have found out that CC4 is generated for Superior 2. But what about my other suggestions: A midi only template and possibility for CC1 for Kontakt? Plus different setups even for the same drum sampler, including the possibility to use different names like Superior Allaire, Superior V&C etc.

You can set the MIDI controller for the hats to CC1 per subhost in the jamstix2.ini file with:

HihatController=1

Thanks for that hint. I read your answer in the SSD Thread on KVR as well.

Will that affect other subhosts applications as well?

Let's say I'd need that "HihatController=1" section in the ini when using SSD. That would work. But will it still work with ezd or AD (if this section stays within the ini)?

Or would I have to erase this section everytime I'd like to use JS2 with - let's say - ezd or AD?

Sorry, hard for me to ask in english. I hope you get what I mean....

Adding to the above question. Assuming you run Kontakt as subhost for Steven Slate Drums using hihatcontrol = 1. Then what if you have another set of samples for Kontakt that do not use hihatcontrol at all? Would there be a conflict? Wouldn't it be better to have several templates for external sampler that the user could name and set different?
