Seeking Way to Lock MIDI Routing In Drums & Jamcussion K

Post by perc_perc »

After experimenting for quite some time I think I have a solution to some of my issues. I was attempting to use Jamcussion and Superior Drummer 3, with many of the mixer channels turned down. I found that the best workflow for me was to open up all the channels (so I can route to my chosen external fx)

Finally I have concluded that I want to be able to Lock the SEND TO MIDI Channel when loading kits. (I mean both Drums and Jamcussion Kits - I'm routing the former to CH 10, and the Latter to CH 11, so that I can set Superior Drummer to only Listen to CH 10 (If I set the Drums to route to CH 1 then I would set Superior Drummer that way - that much makes no difference, Jamcussion being routed to something other than CH 1, and Superior Drummer being told to neglect at least THAT Jamcussion MIDI CH is what I was looking for.).

So to effectively work like this I think apparently I need to load kits one at a time and set their MIDI send Channels this way and re-save them. (OR maybe there's an option to lock the KIT MIDI CH routing already. If not wonder if it wouldn't be a good thing to add if not - it can be a confusing process - damned if you do damned if you don't i suppose. I didn't realize that the MIDI CH routing was contained in the settings for individual kits. I understand why that would be. Its so overwhelming at times to learn so many programs at once, having forgotten Reaper, forgotten how to work with Jamstix, etc, etc. :D )

Hi perc_perc,

I'll save you a lot of work if setting all of your kits to a particular channel is what you want to do. Go to http://findandreplace.io and download FNR. Then point it at C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data\kits, set the file mask to .j2k files, search for MIDI channel=0 then replace it with MIDI channel=X, where X equals the channel you want all of your kits mapped to. The channel numbers in Jamstix are 0 based so 0=1......15=16. Do your Jamcussion folder separately. You can also search for downmix=1 and change it to downmix=0 to disable downmix in all your kits in one shot or vice versa.
If you need any help just ask. FNR is one of my indispensable tools.

Very helpful, thank you greatly! I virus-checked and all good but I'm resting from a neck injury so I haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know how it goes.
