Hi,
If I have projects in which I already have a midi drum track (I have a boss dr-880), and I want to use Jamstix to "interpret" this existing track and add accents and style, and perhaps output this midi to another track, how would I do this? Would I use midi jam mode? How do I tell it that the incoming midi is drums to add style to (and not some other midi instrument)? What is the proper method and workflow for this? My apologies if this is covered elsehwere, I did look.

Basically, you break your MIDI track into the appropriate song parts, import those into corresponding parts in JS as shown in the video, select drummer etc. and off you go.
