No, it's fine to run 32 bit Reaper on a 64 bit OS.

It's working now.
Another observation: When I go to load a kit, the Kit Contents window for the currently selected kit is blank. I have to choose a new kit to see the contents.
And I still can't downmix, I guess I'll have to reinstall.

The preview doesn't makes sounds, it just loads the new kit into the kit window so you can look at it.
